Absolute encoders

ACURO Absolute encoders

Absolute encoders (value transmitters) generate digital codes which identify the absolute position as well as the speed and direction of the rotary encoder. In the event of a power failure, the output will adjust to the correct value after the power supply has been restored. In this case - as with incremental rotary encoders - it is not necessary to move to a reference position.

Electrical transient behaviour (stabilising after vibrations) only results in transient data errors, which are usually too short to influence the dynamics of the system control. The resolution of an absolute rotary encoder is defined by the number of bits in its output value. The output can be provided in a simple binary code or Gray code; this only results in the changing of a single bit for each step.
